| Death | Sharon Schmidt, 65, of Duryea, passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, at Geisinger Community Medical Center after a brief battle with leukemia. She is survived by her beloved husband of 24 years, Joseph F. Schmidt.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alma Miller Beynon. She was a member of Independent Bible Church, Duryea. She was a 1969 graduate of Scranton Tech High School and Northeast Institute of Education, Scranton. Before retirement, she owned and operated a day care center.
She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed being with her husband, spending time with family and especially spoiling her grandchildren. She was strong in her faith and trust in God.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Butch Beynon; as well as her parents.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brother, Robert Beynon and wife, Linda, Alabama; sister, Alma Kish, Newfoundland; daughters, Michelle Monelli and husband, Brad, Dunmore; and Stephanie Marsico and fiancé, Daniel Lahot-ski, Old Forge; son, William Raniello and wife, Natalie, Olyphant; stepdaughters, Lisa Schmidt, Exeter; and Lori Nocito and husband, Frank, Exeter; and grandchildren, Gabriella, Mia, Josephine, William and Natalie; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Independent Bible Church, 328 Main St., Duryea. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 until the time of the service. Interment will be private.
